Start / finish:  Archies Creek (foot of the Bass Hills)

15 minutes from Phillip Island.  90 minutes from Melbourne

Bass Hills Breathtaker

After the success of the inaugural Bass Hills Breathtaker ride last year we're excited about this years ride.  The Bass Hills Breathtaker offers a perfect cycling environment with intensely quiet roads, undulating twisting and turning routes and sentational views of coast and country.  The choices of rides are 39km, 60km and 107km.  100% of all three rides are on country roads.  What energy you save with the short distances you lose in the challenge of the Bass Hills.

The touch of indulgence happens at the fabulous Archies on the Creek, Gippslands finest food and wine experience where you'll start and finish your ride. Archies on the Creek run a market on event day for cyclists and their family and friends to enjoy.

Other things you can enjoy on the day:

  • marshals sharing their friendly country hospitality
  • healthy food at the refreshment centres
  • well signed course
  • complimentary SCENAR rub down post ride
  • mechanical and first aid support
  • a well organised event

Yes you can.  However, to save time at registration and to confirm your entry please enter online prior to event day.  Cash entries are welcome on the day.  Online entries will be available until 5.00pm the evening before the ride.

Am I insured for the ride?

Bass Hills Breathtaker is covered by public liability insurance, but this does not cover accidents caused by individuals or other riders. It is recommended that you have personal accident insurance or medical cover along with ambulance cover, or a suitable level of health insurance.

How challenging are the rides and how fit should I be?

All rides will feel longer than their advertised distance due to the hills experienced.  Though this is a recreational ride cyclists must be physically prepared to take on the Bass Hills.  The course map and profile show the challenge of the ride.
